Black, Hispanic men less likely to be on jury
Black or Hispanic men and people from poor areas of Cook Countyare less likely to serve on juries, the Chicago Reporter found in ananalysis of the jury selection process.
Men between 18 and 29 years old who hail from predominantly blackareas were half as likely to be picked for juries as men from mostlywhite areas, the Reporter found in a five-month investigation of thejury process at the seven county courthouses.
The greatest discrepancies occurred in the felony courthouse at26th and California and at the Rolling Meadows courthouse.
